Round table "Military prose..."

Institute of Literary Studies named after Yanka Kupala Center for Research of Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus together with St. Petersburg State University May 30, 2024 G. spent in the Central Scientific Library named after Yakub Kolas of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus International round table “Military prose: origins, evolution, names”, dedicated to the eightieth anniversary of the liberation of the Belarusian land and the liberation of the hero city of Leningrad.
 
Among the event participants are leading scientists from the Yanka Kupala Institute of Literary Studies, the Center for Research of Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, St. Petersburg State University, representatives of the Yakub Kolas Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Centralized System of State Public Libraries of Minsk, Gomel State University named after Francis Skaryna and Vitebsk State University named after P. M. Masherov.
 
Those present discussed the following issues:
 
1. Russian and Belarusian military prose: faces.
 
2. Belarusian - translated - Russian prose.
 
3. The origins of military prose.
 
4. The evolution of Soviet/post-Soviet military prose.
 
5. Military prose and non-fiction: interaction or controversy?
 
6. Whether the contrast between “general” and “lieutenant” prose is fair/productive or not.
 
7. Prose of those who did not fight.
 
8. Overlooked/underrated and overrated names and works of military prose.
