SECTOR OF THE HISTORY OF BELARUSIAN LITERATURE
Department of Theory and History of Literature
Institute of Literary Studies
named after Yanka Kupala
The sector of the history of Belarusian literature dates back to 1952, when at the Institute of Literature and Art, on the basis of the literary sector, two were formed: the sector of Soviet and the sector of pre-revolutionary literature, which in 1963 was reorganized into the sector of pre-October literature and textual criticism, and in 1992 transformed into the department of history of ancient and modern Belarusian literature.
As a result of the formation in 2008 of the state scientific institution “Institute of Language and Literature named after Yakub Kolas and Yanka Kupala of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus,” the department of the history of ancient and modern Belarusian literature was transformed into the sector of the history of Belarusian literature and became part of the department of theory and history of literature ( order No. 45 of May 21, 2008).
