Born on July 27, 1962 in the village of Grabye, Oktyabrsky district, Gomel region, into a peasant family. In 1979 he graduated from Lomovichi Secondary School. From 1981 to 1986 he studied at the Faculty of History and Philology of Gomel State University. According to distribution in 1986-1989. worked as a teacher of the Belarusian language and literature in the Khamitskaya and Ozaritskaya secondary schools in the Kalinkovichi district. In 1989-1992 studied in graduate school at the Yanka Kupala Institute of Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

In April 2002, he defended his PhD thesis on the topic “Belarusian story of the 20s about the revolution and civil war. The problem of moral and spiritual searches” (Scientific supervisor, Doctor of Philology, V.P. Zhuravlev).

Since 1993 he has been working at the Institute of Literary Studies named after. Y. Kupala of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, from 2022 - as a leading researcher in the department of Belarusian literature of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Sphere of scientific interests — study of the history, poetics, aesthetics, ethics and textual criticism of Belarusian literature of the 20th and 21st centuries.
