Conference “Beshankovitsky region...”

June 20, 2024 year in Beshenkovichi The scientific-practical conference “Beshankovitsky region: historical and cultural decline of the region (and the 100-year-old Beshankovitsky region)” began its work.
 
The organizers of the scientific forum were the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Center for Research of Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Beshenkovichi District Executive Committee. More than 70 researchers (historians, archaeologists, linguists, literary scholars, art historians, folklorists, archivists, local historians, museum and library staff) from Beshenkovichi, Vitebsk, Grodno, Dzerzhinsk, Liozno, Minsk and Polotsk are taking part in the conference in full-time and correspondence formats.
 
At the beginning of the conference, Chairman of the Beshenkovichi District Executive Committee Galina Unukovich, Director of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vadim Lakiza, First Deputy Director for Scientific Work of the Center for Research of Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Alexander Baranovsky, Rector of Vitebsk State University named after P.M. . Masherova, chairman of the Vitebsk regional branch of the Belarusian party “White Rus'” Valentina Bogatyreva.
 
At the beginning of the conference, local historians, history teachers, museum staff, archivists and academic scientists were awarded awards from the Beshenkovichi District Executive Committee, the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Center for Research of Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
 
Scientists donated book publications prepared by employees of the Institute of History and the Center for Research of Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature to the collections of the Beshenkovichi Central Regional Library.
 
During the plenary meeting, a Cooperation Agreement was signed between the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Beshenkovichi District Executive Committee.
 
The plenary session began with a report by the head of the department of archeology of primitive society of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Candidate of Historical Sciences Maxim Chernyavsky on the history and prospects of research into the primitive peat settlements of the Beshenkovichy region. A senior researcher at the Center for Military History of Belarus at the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Vitaly Garmatny, gave a report on the partisan brigade “Alexey” through the prism of the combat diary.
 
Leading archivist of the department of information retrieval systems and automated archival technologies of the State Archive of the Vitebsk Region, Anton Yupatov, in his speech, spoke about the pages of the life of the first party and Soviet leaders of the Beshenkovichi and Ulli districts. A report on Nikolai Vodnev, who worked selflessly all his life for the benefit of the Beshenkovichi district, was made by the first deputy director for scientific work of the Center for Research of Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, candidate of historical sciences Alexander Baranovsky.
 
The plenary session was concluded by the presentation of the leading archivist of the department for the use of documents and information of the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Audio Documents, Elena Tretyak, with a report on the reflection of the history of Beshenkovichina in archival photo and film documents.
 
The work of the scientific forum continues in three sections: “The Beshankovychchyna hell of the ancient times of 1917”, “The Beshankovychchyna hell of 1917 and the present-day events”, “Connected forests with Beshankovychchynay”.
 
On June 21, a round table “Cultural Spadchyna of Beshankovychchyny” is planned.
